THE INNOVATORS

Louis Armstrong
Roy Eldridge
Dizzy Gillespie
Miles Davis
Clifford Brown
Freddie Hubbard

THe above trumpet players are the stylistic innovators who had concepts that other trumpet players emulated such as all of those listed in both categories below.

HONORABLE MENTION
Thad Jones
Howard McGhee
Art Farmer
Kenny Dorham
Donald Byrd
Idrees Suliman
Bill Hardman
Lee Morgan
Conte Condoli
Blue Mitchell

Of this group I feel that Thad Jones,Bill Hardman, and Lee Morgan had the most original styles ,but the three of them were influenced by Dizzy and Clifford Brown.

TODAY'S LEADERS OF THE PACK
Jon Faddis
Brian Lynch
Sean Jones
Tom Harrel
Roy Hargrove
Terrance Blanchard
Nicholas Payton
Phillip Harper

These are the guys who are keeping the jazz trumpet tradition alive, but I don't feel that any of them are
innovators. THEY ARE ALL PLAYING WHAT HAS BEEN PLAYED BEFORE!
